model pattern on a curtain panel wont rotate

i have a model pattern on a curtain panel that i want to align and rotate. i can select the pattern but when i try a move/rotate/align comand nothing happens.

Is this a limitation of the surface patterns on curtain panels?

Any work arounds?

I confirm that it doesn't seem to be able to be done.
Rotate the pattern in the pattern dialog

i would but the problem is that it is an imported pattern. Looks like i will have to to do a little playing around with it.
