I don't do much curtain wall stuff & I'm proving that to myself with this one. I've inserted the standard "Storefront 2-panel" door, replacing one of the glazing panels - it goes in sideways! Of course it won't let me rotate it & there's nothing wrong with the family (I tried one other similar door, too). So WTF? I should stick with residential ...

Would you post a screen-grab. I haven't yet encountered the door going in "sideways."

I had sort of given up & just drew some model lines to represent doors. But this is the before & after - wacky, huh?
Two ideas...
1) If you can't rotate the door with the rotate function, can you rotate the door with the spacebar?
2) What about rotating the entire curtain wall assembly, then realigning your grids? I've never actually tried to rotate an entire curtain wall, but if it lets you all you'd have to do then add/remove a few grid sections and change the dimensions back to what they need to be.

Here's the journal file zipped - I hope it works as the compression factor is 94%. But, as the file loads you will see pretty early where I added the door & it goes in sideways. At that point I bailed out & just used model lines to indicate the door.
I would like to find out where I (or the program) went astray & would appreciate all input.

Previous attempt to post journal file didn't work. Here's a good one - maybe Revit is trying for a new look, like the gull wing Mercedes.

Is your curtain wall a wall or a curtain system? If it's a system, there's no preset up or down orientation. Notice the grid properties in a system are shown as Grid 1 and Grid 2. Revit figures out the layout on its own. You may need to model a new door that is sideways in the family - which will seem upright when placed in the system.

We had this problem with a curtainwall a few months ago. Can't remember which technique we used to create the curtainwall, but I seem to remember it was by lines, or something to that extent. Long story short, we picked the wrong line first and the curtainwall thought up was actually left. We had to delete the curtainwall and model it again from scratch. We didn't use the same method, and everything worked out fine.
Might be what's happening...
