Creating Columns that move with column grid, not working?

Anyone runnning into a problem when you assign a structural column to be placed at grid intersections? I have a building grid, when i assign structural columns to the grid intersections it does the correct thing by placing them there. But when i move the grid line, the columns do not follow! I have the "Moves with grid" option selected too. Wierd thing is that some of the columns do follow the grid while others don't and they were all made with the same command. Any help would be great

If any of the columns have been changed to architectural columns I've found that they won't stay attached to the grids if the grids are at an angle (ie other than vertical and horizontal)

Other than that I seem to be able to place and move structural columns without this problem.
