Does anyone have a good workaround for 3DSOUT in 2007?
The removal of this command has effectively broken my workflow. My current solution is to keep an old version of AutoCAD on my PC but I'd much rather use a plug-in for 2007 if there is one.
Is there any hope that 3DSOUT will return in 2008 or some future version?

Hi,
Autodesk has now an utility for Autocad 2007 and 2008 which gives you the 3dsout-command back: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=9481286&linkID=9240618

Fantastic news. Thanks for flagging that up. Now to test it out...
...OK, that works fine. Looks like it's just the old 3DSOUT with no modifications. Only limitations are that it does not export lights and materials created in 2007 and higher. This seems to confirm my original suspicion that Autodesk simply didn't bother to update 3DSOUT to cope with the new 3D features of 2007 and instead, just removed it. However, since I'm only bothered about geometry right now, this will do just fine.

If you are wanting to bring AutoCAD 3D objects into another Autodesk app such as MAX or VIZ, I find it to be much more effective to use the import command inside those programs to import the dwg file.
