Hi,

Is there an easy way to delete duplicate objects from a LT 2002 drawing? We have received a drawing where most, but not all, lines etc. have been duplicated.

Thanks

Kieran

I would try flipping that drawing over on it's side
could be that you have data at z=0 and z=real
and that getting rid of the one set of data would
be easy.

Thanks for that, but im afraid you've lost me !!! Can you explain what you mean by flipping the drawing over please?

Thanks again

You will find this link to be of some help

Thanks again. That takes me to a link about truetype fonts though!

It should have taken you to this link. Give it a try again

Thanks!

The drawing i have is a site plan, and is in 2D. I assume that means the 3D options arent applicable?

I've seen commands like OVERKILL and ADEDWGCLEAN but afaik these are unavailable in Autocad LT.

Those commands are not available in LT because LT cannot run lsp/arx commands without an add-on.

I honestly can't think of a way to do this in LT, because I think you would need some programming to automatically do this. Sorry. Maybe someone else can help.

Are the duplicate objects all on the same elevation. If they are on different elevations, you could select them all, use the quick select feature to select all items that Z does not equal a certain elevation, and delete those objects. I have a feeling, though, that all of your objects are probably on the same elevation.

Unfortunately they all appear to be on the same elevation. It just looks like someone has copied the drawing in on itself. Some of the objects are there only once too. Ah well!

Thanks for all your help!

I have the same problem, bringing in drawings from 'Microstation' which were originally derived from 3d 'Rhino' models. And likewise, I'd love to hear of an automatic way of getting rid of duplicate and overlaid lines (shorter sections) and dots (tags?)..

Manually in ACAD : you can globally reduce the number of arc segments, which is then easier to see and pick duplicated (and parts of) arcs.

Otherwise (when working in 'Microstation) : I've had to manual pick the drawing one entity at a time, and move these (a ortho-vector distance) to one side - leaving the duplicate(s) where they were. When the moved entities are a compete drawing then I've erased the duplicates en-mass.

In ACAD this would be easier because ; rather than move the entities to one side, you could use 'match properties paintbrush' to change the one set of (good) picked entities to a new layer / colour (this is a real pain-in-the-*** using Microstation' because that program doesn't have a 'match properties' paintbrush). Doing this, you'll have an easy visual check that nothing has been missed and then, with the 'good' layer locked or frozen, the duplicates can again be erased en-mass.

Hope this is both clearly understandable and helps. It's still long-winded and a frustrating waste of time, but using coarse arc segments together with the match-prop paintbrush is at least just click click click..

E-mail me if find a better way.. thanks,

If you are using the full version of AutoCAD, not the LT version, there is a command included with the express tool, OVERKILL that will do what you are looking for. There are also LSP files out there that will do that (deldup.lsp is one that comes to mind). However, you cannot use these in LT without a third-party add on program that enables LT to run Lisp files

The link above is a software which enhances LT to Full AutoCAD which will alow you to use LISP ... like overkill. :-P

Overkill works great- saved us a lot of time.
