I have an image in my titleblock that I want to give the on/off visibility parameter to it, but it does not have one. How can I turn only this image on and off in a project? I know I can from VG but that does all images.
Any thoughts? This image is the signature for a the seal.

Thank

Can't you just assign a yes/ no parameter like you would in any other family? I've never made one for an image, but I would imagine that it would function the same way. There's a blog post by David Duarte that explains the 3 possible choices for controlling the visibility in a family (1. Visibility in the family, 2. Object Styles Subcategory, or 3. the Yes/ No Parameter)...

HTH.

I would have thought so myself. However, the image does not have a visibility option in it's properties dialoge window like labels and imported files do in a titleblock family. Without that visible option, I cannot assign a parameter to it. But I need to find a way.

thanks for the post.

You cannot do what you're trying. I've even tried placing an image in a generic annotation family and nesting it in a titleblock family. The raster shows up while editing the titleblock and then you can assign a yes/no parameter to control the visibility of the annotation family. But once you load the titleblock in the project, the raster image disappears. Your only option is to vectorise your image into a dwg and use that (not always possible to get a good result but should be possible for a seal & signature). We just scan a signed seal and insert the image into the titleblock before final print.

How about a decal with a yes/no parameter attached to it in your title block?

Decal only appears in rendering unfortunately. i suggest you convert the image to linework.

Could you just make two title block families, one that has the image and one that doesn't have the image? Then you'd just have to pick the title block and switch which type it is to turn the signature on and off.

Thanks for your help. I will see what one works the best.

Dale,
you can use a filled region to cover with an on/off parameter for that.

Did they change this? or has it always been the case with images in title blocks not having the yes/no ability

I could have sworn I had an image with a yes/no parameter in a release 5 or 6 title block. (OK, maybe I won't swear to it, but my overtaxed brain keeps telling me this is true)

We have a similar issue. We've set up our titleblock to allow for multiple stamps from all the various owners. I tried to add a signature to the titleblock, but without a visibility parameter, it seems to not work as smoothly. Is there a way to assign a family parameter within the stamp itself?

One thing I've done recently is utilize groups to switch between images in a title block. Granted, you still have to edit the title block family to change the group. The reason for the group is the fact that you can't swamp an image with the type selector like you can a group. Here's basically the process I've used...

Insert the images for the stamps into your title block family. If you need a "blank" image to represent no stamp, create a white image to insert.
Make them all the same size (if possible).
Create a group for each image and maintain a similar base point. Give the group a name that matches what the signature is.
Place one of the groups where you want the image in the title block.
At this point, you should be able to erase the other group instances.
When you want to change the stamp or image, just change the group type in the type selector.I'm in the process of creating a blog post with images and little more detailed description...just need a little more time to polish it up. I'll update this post when I have a finished product.

Actually I believe that if you insert an image in a generic annotation family and nest it in your titleblock, you'll have visibllity control over it and it will also print. There's a post out here in the forums somewhere about this and a member contributed this tip.

Yep, I just found the post you might be talking about....

Aaron Bergmann's post (last one) mentions you can do this as long as you make the family that the image is in Shared in Family Category and Parameters.

Thanks Dave for pointing out it's possible and thanks Aaron for the tip!!

Now I can delete the draft posting I had created...

Oh, you mean like this post... (http://revit-archcenter.blogspot.com/2008/12/change-image-in-revit-title-block.html) :)

Atta boy :) I like that technique for being able to either put a disclaimer and then swop with an actual seal or scanned seal. I can see this as a great option for architects that work with reelancers and don't want to give away their seal. Once they get the work back, the load the annotation family in the project, switch it in the titleblock type properties and hit the print button. And oh, check the documents for accuracy!
