I am really starting to get annoyed by beams automatically attaching and extending into (or in my case protruding through) walls.

I am trying to place a beam system of open-web joists bearing on top of a CMU wall. If I draw the boundary line of the system aligned to the inside edge of the CMU, the beams attach to the wall and the ends of the joist end up protruding out through the exterior face of the wall!

However if I pull the line back just a fraction of an inch off the inside of the wall, then the joists bear maybe 2-3" on the edge of the CMU. It's like there is NO in between of having the joists bear a full 7-8" on top of my 8" CMU.

Just venting I guess, but is there any way to work around this?

Yes, it's annyoing isnt it....

A workaround is to stop the beam system some distance from the wall and then go into the properties of the beams and modify the start and stop extension. This will stop the beams from attaching to the walls.

These are open-web joists so if I change the extension, it looks incorrect in my wall section.
