I am using AutoCAD 2007 and Windows Vista - I know this is an old problem, but I can't get the dialog box to consistently show a list. Before loading vista, I was ok, has anyone encountered this problem recently? Most posts are pre 2002. Thanks for the help.

Also it seems Autodesk will bring out a patch for Vista compatability see here (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=9217791&linkID=9240617).
In the mean time did you try any of the suggestions for older releases? For example is FILEDIA set to 1?

Thanks for the help.By show a list, do you mean that it keeps changing the view it is showing your drawing files in (list, details, thumbnails, preview); or are you having trouble having the dialog box open?

I'll check if I have SP1 installed...I do know this...
It isn't a file dia problem, I am well aware of the dialog box not popping up. My dialog box icons are huge, and I have to scroll down within a small window to find the directory I'm looking for.
I tried changing it within the registry and having windows remember my folder options.
Thanks for the quick reply....
Any other suggestions?

Any other suggestions? In which case, although not much help to you, it may simply be the case that Acad2007 is not yet supported on the new Vista OS.
Would it ever be an option to run XP as a dual boot as well as Vista?
Edit: When you mention the icon sizes, I wonder if its a display resolution setting within windows. I don't know I'm just chucking out a few ideas :(

I am in the process of installing SP1 for ACAD 2007 - hopefully this works.
Steve - I tried having windows "remember" the state of my folders through explorer. Which works for everything else but AutoCAD...
Bren Bren - It's funny, that is the exact post I started with, I even altered the registry numbers as suggested, and it didn't work.
I'll keep you posted if SP1 does anything.

Just a shot in the dark, but does Vista have that thing where like XP you could set the program to run like it was an early version of Windows? I think you go to the exe file (in this case acad.exe) and right click somwhere in there (properties maybe?) there might be a setting to "run like it was XP" or something like that. Sorry for being so vague. I have XP at home, but we run Win 2000 here at the office, so I'm going from memory (which is not so good anymore).
