Hello y'all,

I have a multi story building with a u shaped staircase between each floor. The staircase has a common center wall separating the stairs. How is the best way to hide this center wall and not all the walls. The temporary hide/isolate will do this in the section view but it does not stop this wall from plotting. Visibility/graphics will hide all walls but I need the surrounding walls to be visible. Anyone know of the best way to do this or a workaround?

Thanks in advance for all help,

Create a new workset and put the wall on that workset. You can hide a specific workset in Visibility

If you do not want to get into worksets then use filters - have only done this once but I used an entry in the comments field and filtered using that.

Make the wall a new type, duplicate the wall type and give it a unique name (i.e. Stair Center Wall).

Create a Filter - Filters in the Settings menu > Filters, create New and give it a name, such as "Stair Center Wall", assign it to the Wall category, Filter by: Type Name - equals - (Stair Center Wall)

Return to the view you want to control this wall type visibility and open Visibility Graphics dialog box.
Go to the Filters tab and Insert the Filter created above "Center Stair Wall"

Then uncheck the box in the Visibility column alongside the Name column row for the filter "Stair Center Wall", select OK.

VIOLLA! Or wait a week for the release of Autodesk Revit Architecture 2008, because it has more graphic visibility controls for individual elements/components.

Hey Chirag Mistry,Rjcrowther, & Melarch,

Thank y'all very much for the quick responses. The filters worked like a top. Thanks for the detailing on how to make this happen. This opens a whole new world of possibilities. I hope this will be better documented in the new version coming up, I can't hardly wait.

Come the end of this week Revit Architecture 2008 will be shipping and some of the new features provide visibility control per individual element/component. So you won't need filters for this type task in the future.

You don't really have to create a new wall if you don't want to. Just place a word or description in the comment field and filter by that word.

Edit: Sorry.. didnt see that rjcrowther had already posed this solution.

But you'll probably want to use filters as they can be tied to a view template to reset your view...
