View Full Version : Use Crossing Window with Stretch command when using an UCS

Hi To Everone;
I'm using AutoCAD since 1992, and finally I'm working with AutoCAD2007.
I like it. First I'm drawing a line and then a circle; this is the simplest but the most complex way to work with a CAD software.

I have a question.
While using STRETCH command in an UCS, the selection with a crossing window uses WCS coordinates. I want ACAD to use my UCS's x-apsis and y-ordinate for the selection crossing window. Do not tell me 'Use PLAN Command to..., or use CP option while making selection.. '

Is there a way to do this, or to tell Autodesk to support this? It is really a need for me, maybe for you also.

Thanks.

This allows you to pick by chain, but the chain isn't tied directly to the UCS.

I believe AutoCAD uses the current view to define the crossing and window boxes when prompted to select objects.

You can use plan to make your UCS normal to your view, or you can use dview, twist option to do the same. Either way, the view, not the UCS controls the orientation of the selection window, AFAIK.

My Dear Friends;

Thank you for your posts but; in my message I wrote this sentence;

Do not tell me 'Use PLAN Command to..., or use CP option while making selection.. '

so I am still waiting for an answer. I did not use A2008, may be in this release something changed.

Best Regards;

Scott is correct, if you set your UCSFOLLOW variable to 1 before you switch your UCS to Object, it will rotate the entire screen. this is the only way to do what you ask, AutoCAD will not create a crossing window at an angle to the screen (although it would be something nice to have).

..., if you set your UCSFOLLOW variable to 1 before you switch your UCS to Object, it will rotate the entire screen. ..And it will also run an additional ZOOMEXTENTS command after each UCS alignment!
It is not prefered by most users if they are working on a complex project.

I do not understand that; FENCE is using UCS's X&Y axes when ORTHO is ON but, Crossing Window selection does not. Both of them are about object selection.

Just a system variable; ALIGNCROSSWINTOUCS 0 | 1, thats all.

Best Regards.
