Hey guys. I'm trying to create my first parametric wyes fitting based on one of the ATP courses.
I drew the part as a 10" fitting, and that's the only size that works (see first two images). I'm having issues with the other sizes. I think I'm either missing a dimension and/or a constraint.
I've posted some images so you can better see what might be the problem.
I can post more details about the part as needed.
Thanks in advance.

Hi seventwo, (Sorry I don't know your name)
First, Welcome to AUGI and congrats on your first post.
I haven't messed with parametric parts much but looking at your examples makes me think the problem lies in the radius of the bends. How do calculate the bend radius? I would thing you would need to use a multiplier for the bend radius (ie 6X pipe OD).
Is there any way you can post an example drawing so that we can play/tweak with the part?

If you look at the last image, it looks like the main connection is not constrained properly, where as the other two connections are constrained, when they shouldn't be. There is some sort of rotation of the two arcs that I need to figure out.
The formula for the radii is:
bdyD1=3*D1
...where D1 is the diameter of the pipe. The reason I use 3 as opposed to 1.5 is because the content builder uses diameter measurements, even for arcs. Or so I think!
I'm pretty new at ABS with my only training based from ATP courses, which are great btw.
I'll be working on parametric parts most of the day today, so I'll post up the DWG at the end of the day, or (hopefully) post a solution!
Thanks.

P.S. Thanks for the quick reply!

Hi seventwo
Please note I have *moved* this thread from the ABS2007 (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=383) General forum to this one, as I believe it will be better served here.
Thanks, Scott Telthorst
