I'm having a problem with other department's in our office who are still on Autodesk Building Systems 2004 and trying to use a drawing template that was created in Autodesk Building Systems 2005. They are getting an error message of:
ARX_ERROR: eNOT THATKINDOFCLASS
Any Ideas how to get them able to use the same drawing template or should I set up a new drawing template in Building Systems 2004?

Building Systems 2005 uses new ARX scripting that is incompatible with previous versions. When BS2004 comes upon these scripts in the template you have created using BS2005, the "ARX_ERROR: eNOT THATKINDOFCLASS" message comes up. You will only be able to get by this by creating a 2004 template.
The "ARX_ERROR: eNOT THATKINDOFCLASS" will grow to haunt you. All of your BS2004 users will see it (multiple times) when they try to work in a drawing once saved by BS2005, even if BS2005 is set to save as BS2004 by default. This has been a real problem in our office.
It would not be much of a problem if we could turn off the ARX error messages. The real problem occurs when you get 7 or 8 error messages after every command, preventing you from effictively using the command line. Most users can't do anything about the error, so showing the error is pointless. Turning off the ARX error messages would allow us to continue with our work more effectively. I have placed this on the wish list, but have not seen much interest.
Be aware: You may also have to set up separate Plotters.
Good luck.

The Knowledge Base article basically says you must upgrade to not
experience this error, and it looks like AutoDesk will not be offering
an object enabler for interopability.
Backwards compatibility of Autodesk® Building Systems 2005 files
Published date: 2004-05-21
ID: TS85016
Applies to:
Autodesk® Building Systems 2005
Autodesk® Building Systems 2004
Issue
When you open an Autodesk® Building Systems 2005 file in Autodesk Building Systems 2004, the following error message is continuously displayed at the command line:
ARX_ERROR: eNotThatKindOfClass
Solution
Autodesk® Building Systems 2005 required a file format change to support the new analysis features, such as the eSpace objects, that were introduced in this release. Consequently, drawing files created in Autodesk Building Systems 2005 are not backwards compatible with Autodesk Building Systems 2004 and the ARX_ERROR: eNotThatKindOfClass error is displayed.
When Autodesk Building Systems 2005 is used to open a file from a previous release, the following message is displayed to communicate the effects of the file format change:
This drawing was last saved by an earlier version of this application. Saving the drawing will update it to the current version.
This drawing likely needs to have its object's relationships updated. This could be a lengthy process but is recommended to maintain complete functionality. See the readme for details on drawing versions and regenerating objects relationships.
Regenerate this drawing now?
Note: If an Autodesk Building Systems 2005 drawing is opened in a previous release, the Autodesk Building Systems objects will be treated as proxy graphics.

Thank you Chris and Michael! I guess this means our office stays on ABS2004 until we update everyone.
