Hello,
I had a query regarding the formulas you put in the schedules .Could u please tell me what formulas are to be used if u want to remove the total cost for a particular window or door,I also want to know the different formulas u can use for different objects ?
Regards
Aliya

This extract from the Help file may ... help

To create a field whose value is calculated from a formula based on other fields in the schedule, click Calculated Value. Enter a name for the field, set its type, and enter the formula for it using existing fields in the schedule. Formulas support the same mathematical functions as in the Family Editor.. Click OK when completed. The new calculated field displays under the Scheduled fields list.

You can enter formulas for calculating parameter values. Formulas may include numerical constants and other parameter names. For example, the family could have two parameters named Length and Width. The value for Width might be calculated with the formula Length/2.

Formulas are case sensitive. If the parameter names have initial capitals, you must enter them in the formula with capitals. For example, the parameter name is Width. You type width * 2 in the formula. This is ambiguous to AutodeskĀ® RevitĀ®, and it does not accept the formula.

Formulas support the following arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponentiation, logarithms, and square roots. Formulas also support the following trigonometric functions: sine, cosine, tangent, arcsine, arccosine, and arctangent.

For numerical values in formulas, you can enter integers, decimals, or fractional values.

Thanx Beegee, I shall try it out the way u said.

Ok, I'm working through a wall schedule where I would like to get the Area*Cost=Total Cost/SF. Is this possible? I keep getting an "Incosistent Units" error. I have given my wall assembly a cost. I'm just not understanding what the formula needs to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
grover

It seems that because the Area field is defined in area units and the Cost field is a fixed number (a user defined number) that the calculated value needs to be defined as Area units also.

I tested this and it gives the correct result but you cannot format the result in Dollars.

A trick I learned at AU2003 is that you can divide Area by 1SF to take Area into a "number"

Try the formula: Area/1SF * Cost

Tom,

Thank you, that was exactly what I was trying to figure out. Hope all is well in Minnesota.

Thanks again to everyone.
