How seamless is the upgrade process from AutoCAD 2006 to 2008?

We are currently running 2006 utilizing SSM fully. How seamless is the upgrade process from 2006 to 2008. Will all of my CUI, template files & sheet sets templates convert over or will I have to re-invent the wheel?

One thing to bear in mind is that scales are set on a per drawing due to the new annotation scaling but if you set it in your templates all should be well. Other than that I can't think of anything else which causes us any problems.

would you mind elobarating on that? Can you have anotations & dimensions setup for different scales in the same drawing file? We use paper space, and most of the time one VP may be scaled for 1/8" = 1'-0" while some details are in view ports of other scales (1-1/2" or 3"=1'-0"). That means that there are a variety of text & dimesion sizes in that one file. Can this new annotation scaling feature deal with this?

Can this new annotation scaling feature deal with this?Yes it can, it will work exactly as before so viewports will be scaled individually.

The new annotation scales for dimensions and text will allow the same object (be it text or dimension) visible in two different viewports set at different scales but allow the text/dims to look the same in paper space.

In 2007 and earlier when you typed in UNITS in the command list a dialogue box appeared with tabs along the top, one of those tabs was SCALE where you could set the overall drawing scale (used for inserting blocks etc) and save it as the default for all drawings, now in 2008 the ability to save it as default doesn't exist. If you didn't use this much before then you won't notice any difference.
