I have a student who is using the st. version of Acad 2007, in the plot preview, the dimension lines are not visible. I've tried changing layer colors and assigning a new layer for all dimensions. Since she did not set up a dimension layer initially she had a layer that showed up called def points. What could the problem be?

defpoints won't plot ever. Check the dim style to make sure that the line work and notes are set to "by layer" They could be set to a non plotting color in your .ctb file. Just a few thought. You could also try to trouble shoot by doing a copy and paste in to a new, clean drawing started from a template.

Defpoints is a non-plotting layer; it is created by AutoCAD when dimensions are created; it is used by the dimensions. If the dimensions themselves are on the defpoints layer, they will not plot.

Make sure the layer you created is a plotting layer and that the dimensions are on that layer; and that the layer is turned on.

Hi "indulgeinhumor"

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the CAD Mgmt. General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=119) forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

Thanks, Mike
