View Full Version : Lines are triming/extending to objects that don't exist

Is there a way to save the values for all system varibles? I know these are controlled by the profiles (which should be backed up often) but is there another way?
The reason i am asking is somehow i have changed the setting for trim and extend which select objects that have been deleted. Very fustrating, does anyone know what setting controls this?

Please note I have moved this from the ADT forum to the AutoCAD general forum.

About the only thing I can think of is to check what your projection mode is set to in the command. Start TRIM, hit enter when prompted for cutting edges and then type P and hit enter. Default is UCS.

Try this one, i found if i delete EVERYthing from the drawing it works properly

It has more to do with your dynamic block than with linework. If I draw an extra line that intersects the existing angled line, trim works. Explode the block and trim will trim the angled line too.

O man not my precise blocks!!! lol, i exploded the original drawing and its made it 10 times worse :? that is what makes me think it is a setting

you could write a script and have it execute on startup, or you could write a lisp routine and have it execute on startup

I'm glad you got your trim problem figured out. To answer your other questions:
There is an Express tool that can save and import variable settings. I don't have AutoCAD in front of me so I'm going from memory. I think it is called System Variable Editor. You can find it under Tools on the Express menu. One word of caution, it doesn't recognize 100% of the variables but at least 95% of them.
Profiles keep track of very limited number of variables. I would not recommend relying on them for this purpose.
