can someone tell me where the setting is to manipulate whether the mark or type mark shows up in the window tags?

In the ootb tags, you choose a family that displays the element mark (coded by 1i meaning instance in the graphic preview) or one that displays the type mark (coded by 1t meaning type in the graphic preview). You could make a tag that has both type and instance marks and use a visibility parameter to toggle them, but the factory does not provide such a tag.

coded by 1i meaning instance in the graphic preview) or one that displays the type mark (coded by 1t meaning type in the graphic preview)..
 Ya know, I'm sure I've noticed that before but I don't know how I didn't clue into that little visual cue ages ago. Learn something new everyday on this forum

what about having "description" notes in the schedule be specific to individual windows instead of it including all same type marks? is that possible or do i need to add another category that does allow differentiation between type marks?

In your schedule, remove the Type mark field and add the Mark field - does that help?

no, i once came across the option to make a part of the schedule applicaple only to one window even though there were multiple windows of the same type. i can't remember where it was and if it only applied to "comments" and not "description".
