I've created my own slab edge and i am now trying to join geometry so that the slab and the slab edge appear to be one piece. which i thought i had done. but when i put a section in and set the detail level to fine, so that the finish floor level appeared as well as the structural level it still appeared to be seperate from the slab. does anybody know if it is possible to join a slab edge to the SSL rather than just the FFL?

1. The materials must be EXACTLY the same for the slab and the edge
2. When joining, select the slab, then the edge
That's all I can help - joining is a bit voodoo sometimes.

To follow on from Lewis's post, is it possible to trim back just the finish so it ends to the left of the structural upstand?
Thanks

No, floor layers cannot be controlled independantly. Your slab and your finish have to be seperate floors
This is how I've ended up doing many floors - especially in attic spaces, where the floor structure continues to the roof edge, but the interior boarding trims the floor finish back a good 1-2 meters.

Dave F.Actually you can do this, though perhaps not in the way you would like.
As suggested, you could have 2 separate floors here (one for the finish, one for the slab, which by the way, could be very useful if you wish to schedule the finish at a later date) That way you model exactly what you get and this will be represented in any view.
Alternatively, if you are only concerned about this problem in your section view, select the 'edit cut profile tool' in your section view. Then select the floor finish. Draw a line where you would like to end the floor finish et voila!
Should be fine for what you are doing?
