Wall not shown hidden

i've created a wall profile which has been cut so that the wall has a step in it. (see image) in the plan view where the lower part of the wall stops below the slab, it appears hidden with dashed line whcih is what i wanted, but on my next level up the wall is back as a solid line as if it continues to go up. has anyone encountered this before? if so or if not has anyone got an explanation?

Have you checked your view range?

I've tried that but it appears to make no difference, the wall itself is 3 meters above the floor below and the view range is set to less than a meter, the distances it use in the view range is the same as the floor below which doesn't show the part of the wall which doesn't come up to the next level.
