Hi all,
I'm trying to draw a simple timber post & beam structure with halved joints, but it's not coming out right. Diagram 1 (drawn in ACAD) is how I want to see it, but they are coming out as in diagrams 2 & 3 - one is with join geometry & the other is without. They're all done as extrusions. Thanks.

Area they structural columns and beams? Some object cannot be joined using join geometry. Generic models allow for use of join geometry...

I made them as generic models as structural framing. They join alright but the cut lines are not showing. I suppose I'll have to use voids.

There are no cut lines if the two objects have the exact same material. You can work around by changing the material of one of your elements. Just duplicate the material with the same settings but different name.
I will relay your problem to our product designers so we can come up with a better solution in the future.

If you don't want to cut the seats for the beam with a void, then you could join geometry and then draw in the joints using model lines on the correct surfaces.

What Tamas suggests works perfectly, Aaron.
