I am working on getting mechanical systems all up and working, however some things still elude me.

I can get Revit to make a mechanical system and have the duct checker give it the thumbs up, however in the systems browser it still does not say anything under "load/flow", just 0 CFM. This might just be because I am a bit new to mechanical shenanigans, but I think it might have to do with the connector.

For flow configuration, there is "system," "preset" and "calculated."

Right now for this exhaust system I am using preset on my boiler, and then calculated on my exhaust port. It calculates all the fun pressure drop and everything, but still doesn't say anything for flow on the systems browser. Is this because exhaust systems don't have any special flow or something, or is it because of some other reason?

Also, what is a "systems" flow configuration?

Matt,

Did you ever find any good information or get an explanation of the different connector options. I am just thoroughly amazed that none of the printed documentation, nor the help file say anything about the various settings for the three type of connectors in Revit MEP.

Kyle or anyone who knows, can you help?

Kinda, Kyle did reply to a post about it somewhere back when. I also banged my head into figuring most of it out as well, though there is still some stuff which makes me

Essentially Preset is for things like diffusers and downstream equipment while Calculated would be for the upstream stuff. This way you calculate all that which is below you... or so I think.

Guys,
I just posted on my blog about this very subject. Should shed some light on everything for you. Let me know if you still have questions.
