Can phased elements be copied from one model to another?

We have a file that has 5 phases.
It needs to be upgraded to our new template and still maintain phasing.

I tried linking into 2008, binding, then ungrouping. I only get the final phase.

I tried making 5 phases in the new file before linking, no luck.

Before binding the link can be seen with the VV settings of the linked view, so I can see the phases that way, but after the bind all that goes away and the ungrouped model reverts to phase 5.

when you say upgrade, you mean from 9.1 to 2008? if that is the case, have you tried to upgrade the file then bring the new template items to your upgraded drawing?

To an extent that is what we are doing now but there are so many things that's different between the model and the template.

Are you using transfer project standards from the menu file?, the schedules are easy to copy, and for new parameters on templates you just need to set up the new ones on the drawing. It should not be that bad, unless the template it is so different.
