View Full Version : Import a MLeader Style?

Is there a way to import an mleader style? Or is there a way of setting a universal style for mleaders?
I love the function but go through alot of drawings in a day and reseting the values in each drawing is cumbersome. Can they be linked to the dimstyle like a regular LE type of leader?
Thanks!

Please note I have moved this to the AutoCAD General forums for better coverage.

Thanks!you can copy a multileader into a new drawing and its style setting will import with it. the best option is to set your template with the styles you want globally and then just edit in a file if you need to.

For the drawings that require some conversion, just block out a MLeader with your settings, and insert it into the drawing.

I found a better way! Create a mleaderstyle, make it "current", create a new mleader. Then drag the leader into a toolpalette where it sits nicely and works in the "current " style in each drawing.
I love Autocad. There is always and easier way.

I am not at my work computer at the moment so I can't check, but can you go to dim styles and set a style that will only go for leaders? I have one for radius and diameter dimmensions, and i know there are more options, leader hopefully being one

You have to go into the mleader specific style manager. Type mleaderstyle and it will open up a window similar to the dimstyle window but it is specific for the mleaders.
(this is actually my favorite upgrade for awhile, have fun!)

(this is actually my favorite upgrade for awhile, have fun!)i believe mleaders are seperate from the dimstyle leaders. to setup a leader style open the dimstyle window, select new, and in the drop down (use for:) at the bottom select leaders and tolerances - then set it up how you like.

We use a script file to setup and/or correct our dimension styles and our qleader settings in any drawing (usually where the settings/styles may have been purged or in a drawing which was not started from our template). We're considering switching to mleaders. I'd like to find a list of all the variables associated with a given mleader style so I can use a script file to define the mleader style. Anyone know where I can find the list of mleader style variables? The qleader is setup using a list instead of variable names, perhaps the mleader styles are set up the same way?

I see that you can basically paste the mleader style in by using a drag and drop with the tool palette, but I'd really like to be able to define the style using a script file if possible.

it might be benificial to look up in the developer help, dxf reference, entities, you can look under mleader and possibly get your settings from there.

...developer help, dxf reference, entities...

This may seem like a dumb question - but where do I find these things?

You should be able to find it somewhere under your Help pull-down menu. In Civil 3D 2008 it's Help > Additional resources > AutoCAD Civil 3D Developer Help. This may vary slightly depending on the version and flavor of AutoCAD.

EDIT: Let me change that. The one you want would be Help > Additional resources > AutoCAD Developer Help. The AutoCAD Civil 3D Developer Help is an Active X reference for C3D only.

Our company still uses buttons to put leaders you can make custom buttons to put mleaders in, i have a button that brings in all my styles and you can modify your existing buttons to use the mleader style that you want.

For some reason, I can't drag anything to my tool palette. What gives?
I click the object, hold it down, drag it over. I see the thick black line that shows where it will be dropped, but when I drop it, I can hear the hard drive going but nothing shows up.

I set up three mleader styles the other day and then was suprised to see that they could not be access from my Design Center/CADMart.dwg. You can see everything else in the Design Center, textstyles, layouts, dimstyles, tablestyles, etc., but not mleader styles. I had to bring a sample of each one into a drawing and then drag and drop the three onto my Tool Palette. Now I can get them any time.

I, too would like to define the mleader style in our drawing setup routine. The only method I can find in the help file involves ActiveX objects, on which I'm very weak. Does anyone have a working example?

Thanks,
