In 2008, my LAYISO command locks all unselected layers, instead of turning them off. But it also says something about its "current settings". Is there some way to change the "current settings"? I can't even find LAYISO anywhere in the help.

I found a LAI macro, but it doesn't work like LAYISO used to. The tracking feature is nice, but I don't like the way it forces the user to select everything, and doesn't support options like "previous selection set".

I'd really like to get LAYISO working "the old way" again. One of the key reasons I used LAYISO was to make sure I was OSNAPing to the right objects, and it is still possible to OSNAP to objects on locked layers. So I am finding the new behavior to be something less than an improvement.

When you execute layiso, type S for settings, and there are options to have "Locked and Faded" or Off.

I like the old way, also, and changing the option to Off seems to do that for me.

D'oh! Of course. Thanks. I saw the line that said "Current setting: Lock Layers, Fade=50", but for some reason kept not seeing the "[Settings]" option when it asked me to pick objects. Now that's a rookie mistake.

Yeah, I had to change it back to the old behavior. That "lock and fade" thing was really getting to me. And not just because it leaves lots of objects on the screen to OSNAP to. It also seems to cause problems with Civil-3D objects - I'd keep getting errors after using LAYISO because some layer buried deep in some style was locked. And I had some really strange parcel behavior that lead to my first (and so far only) crash with Civil-3D 2008 when I tried to create parcels after using LAYISO.

...Now that's a rookie mistake...Nah, not really. Took me a week to figure it out myself.

Shoot. I just learned that there are more options in the layer command. I guess it keeps us on our toes, huh?
