So, I am working within the Style Label Composer for Pipes within the Tool space palette. I want to make custom labels, I want to combine my required data with the automatic numbering system.
Is it possible?????
Thanks in advance

I'm not sure what you're asking, but from what I get from your question, I would say yes. If you could give more detail I'm sure you'll get a clearer answer from someone.

Let me try this Chris. What we are trying to accomplish in our office is the pipe works labels can be set up to number your line in number sequence, only it puts the word structure in there. We would rather not see the word "structure" on our submittals, so how can I remove that from the automatic labeling but still retain the automatic numbering that that particular expression contains?
Thanks in advance

Ah, I was confused by the initial question as well but now I think I get it. You're looking to change the structure name template. Very easy to do. Go to the settings tab in toolspace. Right click the 'pipenetwork' section and choose 'edit feature settings'. Locate the section for default naming and there you'll find the structure name template. This will change it for all future networks. The current network needs to be edited as well. Go to the network properties of any existing networks. You should find the naming template on one of the property tabs.
HTH
PS: I should also mention that any existing structure will need to have their names manually edited as they don't automatically update if the naming template is changed.

MMccall,
That worked great!!! Thank you! Another Question......
In our Sanitary Profile, we want to label the pipe network every 50 feet with the station and elevation. We would like to place that data in a band. Every seen that done??
Thanks again!

I've never been required to show such information on our plan but I have seen posts about this before. The solution, or process, was to trace along the invert of the pipes with a profile, give the profile a style that didn't plot and use it with a profile data band.
Check out www.Civil3D.com (http://www.civil3d.com/). I believe Dana Probert describes setting up and using this workaround.
The above worked for 06 and 07, not sure if 2008 has a better way to do this.

MMccall,
We are just now using C3D 2008 in our office now. I think between another gentleman and myself we had exhausted every possible way of labeling with a band, but thought I would ask. I did set up a new set of expressions as outlined in http://tappingintoc3d.blogspot.com/ Critical Labels from the June 14, 2006 posting half way down the blog. This is a cool tip, but does not quite work the way our governing municipality wants to see the data.
Thanks again,

You can create a Pipe Network Information band and in the Profile properties set the sampling to 50 to get the info your are looking for.

Mark,
Hey two of us in our office tried to set this up, but we can not find the sampling you are talking about??? Could you give me a screen shot or something else to work with?
Thanks in advance

In your Profile View Properties, Select Edit Profile Style and in the Horizontal Axis' Minor Tick details, change where it shows 25 in the image below to 50 or whatever distance you want your Minor Labels set to.
The first Image is from 2008 and the second is from 2007

Mark,
Thanks for the screen shots and the info, that is much appreciated.
My question to you is, How do you reference a pipe profile so that the elevation of the pipe is referenced in a band? Our municipality requires elevations every 50 feet along the proposed sewer and water lines. We can label our profile along the finished ground and existing ground, but we have yet to find a way to reference the profile of the sanitary line.
Any ideas?????

Hi Justin,
You can define a Pipe Network Band style with the info you need and then in your Profile View Style include that Band in the View style on the Bands Tab.
If you look in your Settings Tab of the Prospector, Under Profile View-Band Styles, there should be a category at the very bottom for Pipe Networks. If it is not there, open the NCS Extended DWT and look for it in there. This should give you a good start for getting the info you need in your Profile View

Mark,
Well, I must concede.....I must be slow or dumb because I can not find any way to get this to work. I have tried, I have looked endlessly and am getting tired of doing the same thing over and over again.
I am pretty crafty when it comes to Autodesk applications, but I am stumped on this.....
I can not see anywhere to have information pulled from a pipe network. I would love to write an expression if it were possible. Mark, have you been able to pull invert info from pipes before?

About all I can figure out so far is we may need to build an expression that can be used for the labels, and then set the labels to attach at the bottom of the Profile View. I am looking into it when I get a few minutes. Right now I am finishing up the training manuals for our company's Powerusers training that starts on Monday morning. I haven't forgotten you though!
If I remember, all you need is the pipe invert and station at 50 foot intervals? Correct?

Mark, you sound swamped as well

Yes sir that is correct. I am not asking for you to do it for me, but I am asking for a little help. I would love to figure this one out on my own, just a little guidance is what I am after.
Thanks again Mark!
