Revit + Google Earth

Is there a method of extracting 3D model information from Google Earth, for use within Revit Architecture.

Although not particularly accurate, the Google earth models seem like a great starting point for a very quick adj. site study.

Yes go to avatech.com and download their revit plugin.

Sorry I read the post wrong, this plugin lets you put your model in google earth, not google earth into revit.

I think you can import Google Earth into Sketchup and then take the sketchup model with a patch of Google earth into Revit. I have not tried this myself but have recieved a Sketchup model with a Topo from GE

How do you go about exporting from GE?

There is in fact a plugin that lets you bring Google earth geometry in to Revit
I actuially used it once but now I forget what it was, I would google it, you'll find it

I agree, there are plug-ins available for pulling 3D data out of Google earth which you can then bring into Revit. If the Sketch-Up method works, than that's a great place to start, the other one which I saw a while back worked by capturing the OpenGL data and saving it to a usable 3D format (such as 3ds).

I'll look through my notes at work tomorrow to see if I can post a name or link.

Not sure bout the deets, but this is a site that talks about the supposed "bi-directional integration" between SketchUp and Revit (I am putting that in quotes because these are the same people who call SketchUp BIM). It seems relatively plausible, but I am going to do some testing before I start putting my words behind this whole thing. It does seem like it has a lot of potential.

This method works quite well. Once you have placed it in google earth, you can save the kmz file and send it to clients.

At this point I haven't figured out how to post it on the web (sales purposes) but I am sure there is a way...
