I am working on a new hospital project and we really need to view our Life Safety plans using colored fire barrier lines, however, everything needs to print black for our plan set. I am using a repeating detail with filled regions for our unique barrier linetypes. Does anyone know of a method in Revit 2008 to make this possible. I thought there was something in the "What's New" demonstration I downloaded for visual color overide that doesn't affect printing but I can't seem to make it happen. I've tried coloring the detail component and when printing, select under setup to "Print Black Lines" and also "Grayscale" but either selection comes out grayscale and is very hard to read.

Are your plot settings in Revit set to print to black or grey scale?

They are set to print black currently. I've tried both black and grayscale. I'm hoping there is an override for elements that will allow them to show a color in plan and print black.

If you have 2008 it should be possible with individual element overrides. draw them in color and then override them to black in the cd views or vice versa.

The concern in doing that is we are using repeating detail lines. In leu of not wanting duplicate information in two seperate views and having to continually update each view, we would like to restrict these plan views to only one.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you worried that since they are detail items they could be different between views? If so, you can group them and copy the group in each view that you see them. Then when you change the group it will change on all plans. If that's not what your concern is please elaborate...

That was my concern. I never thought to group all of our LS lines. Thanks for the tip!
