File size is different??

I have a Revit file and it should be 21mb. Suddenly, when I save it, it becomes to 12mb. When I open the 12 mb file, everything is there. I did not lose anything. I am just a little bit confuse why the file size is different? Any thought and idea? Thanks for all your help!

Revit will save previews for a thumbnail. Turning on and off sahdows can dramatically change the file size without affacting what is drawn. Revit also will compress a file to save space - this is actually an option in the save dialog. However - you'll find it quickly return to 21 mb while you are working on it.
