Underground Addition

I am placing a mechanical room underground adjacent to my building. I can't figure out how to take the earth out of the building, but also leave 18" of earth on top of the addition. Would anyone be kind enough to help?

Thanks, for the referenced post. I ended up using a floor slab and changed the material to earth. That will work for me.
