View Full Version : Can't manually enter shared parameter values in a room schedule

We have created a "programmed area" shared parameter for our room schedules and room tags, in order to compare the program we created in Excel vs. actual planned areas we have drawn in Revit. We had been entering the areas from the program manually into the schedule view in Revit, and suddenly the "programmed area" field seems to be locked in the schedule view, even though we can still enter it manually in the room tags in plan view, and it still shows up in the schedule view when we type it in plan view.

Any ideas on what may be the cause of this? We recently started using Worksets in our project so I'm wondering if it has to do with the way we're managing our Worksets. I tried checking out this particular schedule using the Worksets dialogue box and it didn't seem to make any difference.

Any insights would be appreciated

Thanks,

Cecilia Gunning

Are you using any schedule keys? If there is a schedule key, and that field is in it, you wont be able to edit the field in the schedule.

Also (silly question, im sure...) is the Shared Parameter actually Loaded in the project itself under Settings > Shared Parameters?

Thanks Aaron,

Schedule Keys were probably the problem because I recreated the Room Schedule (took like 5 mins) making sure not to use Schedule Keys, and the field is editable again.

No problem : )

I think schedule keys are great, but its tough when they dont allow you to manually enter in fields that have a Null value. Im not sure what safe way there is ti handle it, but i wish there was one!

I was schedule keys for our Mall Projects, As the typical "Storefront Doors" are all the same. As such, i can populate the To and From Text fields that we use with "Tenant" and "Common Space".

A lof of our service room doors are the same too, except they have different room Names... Electrical, Sprinkler Rm, etc. But i cant use one schedule key for all of them unless i call them "Service Rm" for this reason. If i leave it blank in the schedule key, i cant write in the field in the schedule.

Oh well, small price to pay, hehehe.
