Can anyone tell me if there is a trick to importing 2D sketch up people into Revit.

I can import a 3D tree and it works ok but a 2D person causes revit (9.1) to crash.

Is there only a certain type of sketch up file that imports?
Can I do something to the sketch up file to ensure it works?

I have done a search and found the web library people families but they are a bit faceted for my liking (thanks sbrown). I am looking to place the people in a shaded view with shadows so a simple line person is not going to do the trick and rpc people are not going to work for this either.

I made effort to get the sketch up file into Autocad but sketch up is not in the user manual and did not rate a mention in the insert menu so it looks like that is not an option.

Anyone come across this before?

Thanks,
Rob

Revit 9.1 can't handle SU6 files - it will crash upon import.

Sounds like the 2D person is a SU6 file. Open the file using SU6 and save-as to SU5.

Also, you can try importing using RAC2008 to see if that's the problem.

I've attached one I converted to Revit - but I ended up pretty much retracing the whole thing as a detail component.

It seems to be a SU-6 issue.

I tried importing a native SU6 file into RAC2008 and it worked fine. Imported to 9.1 and it crashed.
Save the SU file as a V5 file and it should be OK to bring into 9.1.

If you needed to retrace it then I wonder if I would be well served to import existing Autocad people and retrace with filled regions.

Maybe you would. I'd suggest you try it yourself and see. However, the SU people are pretty neat!
