Fully Constructed Roof

Is it possible to create a complete roof with attached components in it? eg. A roof assembly that has metal decking that shows profiles when cut in section and so on?

Possible, yes. More time consuming though.

I have done a residential roof framing in components using line based families and it works alright. There are still some setbacks.

You have to ask yourself, is it really worth modelling everything? Most times the answer is no. Even though I modeled the roof, there are still "components" missing. Like sheetrock nailers, ridge kickers, bracing, collar ties, etc.

Oh maybe that's not correct if you're talking about "roof command make me a roof.....NOW!" Shazam!

Components one at a time is what I mean.

And watch out that when you make changes all those components are still correct in all the views where they are shown.
