View Full Version : Revit 9.1 to Revit 2008 - Callouts Missing

I started a project in revit 9.1 and recently updated to Revit 2008. I originally created some detail callout bubbles in the Revit 9.1 version. After the switch to Revit 2008 the actual callout bubbles are no longer visible in the plan details I created them in. Even though there are no callout bubbles to visible the callout details I created still exist. revit will not let me create any new callout bubble details either. How can I get the callout bubbles to show up again and be able to create more? Thanks!

Thanks for the help guys, but I've still been unable to get those callouts to show up. My crop region is and always has been turned off, and callouts are turned on in my visibility graphics. I couldn't find anything relating to something talked about as "hide at scales courser than..." I'd check that setting but I don't know where to find it. Also, I am only aware of "callouts" not "plan callouts" and "detail callouts", so i don't know if Revit 9.1 used the correct one or not. I'm only aware of the one located in the 'View Tab' that i've used before. Also, I can't even get Revit to create another callout. When I try to create another one in a plan detail view I get this message: "None of the created elements are visible in Floor Plan: Plan Detail Side Tenant 1a View. You may want to check the active view, its Parameters, and Visibility settings, as well as any Plan Regions and their settings." This notice/warning didn't help me.

Wow. I would guess that someone has shut off the callout (annotation) in the Visibility Graphics of the view in question. I am imagining that there are other people in your office learning Revit or with some Revit experience? If not, you should read up about some of the features in HELP. Start with Visibility Graphics (In any view, type in VG).
The section in Help is entitled:
Visibility and Graphic Display in Project Views
Go to the search feature in Help and then type this information into the box. It is a subcategory of Project Views. This might explain the situation (I am guessing that someone went to Visibility Graphics and turned off callouts under Annotation Categories).
Good luck,
Stephen
post script: for future posts, the title of your thread may need to be more specific to the issue at hand. This post could be entitled: Callouts Missing (or something like that)...

We are suffering at the hands of Revit 2008.
Callouts are gone!!! VG shows callouts as turned on, some show up, but 90% of them do not show up per view.
Also we had a Review Warning free project, that's right 0 Review warnings, and now that after the 2008 upgrade we have a whopping 1186 review warnings.
Revit 2008 NOT A BIG FAN!!! nice way to roll out some a bunch of headaches for people

Ok, so turning off the crop makes them show again, but it is an Unacceptable fix seeing that you would have to mask the stuff you don't want to see.

I wonder if 1186 new warnings are not related to callout visibility issue. Please consider sending model to support for investigation.

It may have something to do with it, but last time I sent a file with errors to Autodesk they told me to fix review warnings before sending them files to fix. So like I said, Revit 9.1 NO Warnings, Revit 2008 =1186 review Warnings.
And it's that stupid "line is off axis" review warning.
I Enjoy Revit, but I think they shouldn't rush their product out at the expense of others.
Make it right before rolling it out.

It has nothing to due with Review Warining because we have none in our template.rte, but maybe the template file you started with from versions previous to Revit 9.1 like our firm, we created our template from a Revit 5 or 6 with no problems until now Revit 2008.
You can replicate the error when you place the callouts as Detail View: Detail View Callout and then you have to turn on Crop View & Crop Region Visible and actually crop part of your building.
Only in our template file can I replicate the error, I cannot replicate the error with the Revit 9.1 default.rte template.
We have a ton of older projects created with our template that cannot be upgraded due to this Revit 2008 bugger.

Have you tried to see if the Workset is off in the Visibility Graphic. I ran into this problem last week.

It happens without worksets enabled..Visibility Graphic = callouts on.
Turn off crop region and they are back.
Like I said it has something to do with our older template file, the upgrade and callouts are fine with the Revit 9.1 default.rte
