View Full Version : Export to AutoCAD - Location change?

Hi all,

Okay, we're working with some consultants who are still on AutoCAD. We export the Revit plans to CAD plans (AutoCAD 2004 format) and the MECH/ELEC get their CAD files set up. Then, we made some changes to the rooms in the building, and re-exported. All of a sudden, our CAD backgrounds are coming in at a completely different location when X-Referenced to the MECH and ELEC cad files. What gives? This is very frustrating, as this has happened a couple of times now. Nothing changed in the Revit file other than updating some elements on the interiors. The project location hasn't changed at all.

Is there any way to fix this, as it is quickly driving us crazy!

Thanks,
Jer

Thanks,
Jerare you exporting using the shared location, as opposed to the original coordinates?

Either/or. The location changed and no amount of toggling between the shared coordinates or project internal coordinates was able to move it back to where it was supposed to be. We found a work-around for the time being by specifying coordinates at a point, but since there are other drawings that are exported to AutoCAD which rely on the rest of the buildings being where they originally are in that sheet set, we have to change the coordinates, then switch them back after exporting.

The point is, this shouldn't have happened to begin with. Everything was working fine, no one changed the building coordinates or the way it was exporting. And yet the coordinates changed...

Another issue, maybe tied to this, maybe not - some of the geometry in the on the floor plan - specifically a closet door and the defining wall of the closet - is not showing up in the exported plan. Any thoughts on this? Could this be related to the location change issue?

This is Revit Building 9.1.

Thank you for any thoughts on this!
