Revit 2008 has a nice sash window (typically, just the one I need ;) ) in the Metric library - see attached...
(it is sash (5) if you have the Metric library)

Is it me or is there something wrong with this Family, can a more expert user say please?

If you change the Height parameter the window goes peculiar.

Other sash windows supplied seem to work OK.

No it is not you.

I am sorry but I haven't time to fix it at the moment.

The basic family making procedure is
draw reference planes
dimension the reference planes
give the dimensions parameters (type or instance)
go into the family types box and adjust the parameters to make sure the reference planes move as expected (flexing the family)
Make geometry and lock to the reference planes.
Adjust parameters again to make sure the geometry moves with the reference planes which moves with the dimensioned parameters. (flexing the family)

A quick glance at this family shows a lot less reference planes then I would have. The geometry is not locked to the reference planes so it is not flexing (it comes apart). In other words the families originator is human too.

The remedy is likely to align and lock all geometry to the reference planes (it is a good example for you of what it looks like when you do not flex your families properly).

Use another window in the interim (called a place holder). When the window is right then you can swap them out.

thanks for looking at this Rob.

I've used one of the other sash windows and turned off the glazing bars for the moment.

Reassuring to know that even the supplied content is fallible - and there is nothing like necessity for making you put effort into learning how to fix things ;) .

cheers,
