Wall height tags

I'm trying to create a wall height tag that reads direct from the wall as modelled.. After trying to read into instance v family parameters etc, I'm a bit lost... can anyone help me?

Well--as you may already know--you are interesting territory: system families. Tags like Level Heads and Spot Elevations are inflexible in that they are always relative to "EL +0". I think this is a great thing!!! Of course a decent spot elevation tag comes OOTB, but it will always reference true elevations. If you are trying to callout the height of a 4'-0" halfwall on the 4th floor of your building, I don't think you can do it.

Yes, that's kind of where I was heading, maybe referencing the unconnected height or something... ?
