View Full Version : Near Distance Fog not close enough to Camera

I have set up Parallel Projection Named Views for architectural elevations for rendering purposes with the intent of using RENDERENVIROMENT (FOG) to aid depth perception. I use a Layout Tab Floating Viewport (Tilemode 0, Model Space), set the UCS to FRONT or LEFT or BACK etc. according to the elevation of the building I want to render, invoke PLAN of the current UCS, ZOOM x/p according to the scale I want the elevation, PAN the elevation to the proper position, and save the resulting display as a named view. I set the Near and Far Distances as a percentage of the distance from the Camera to the Back Clip Plane, set the Near & Far Fog Percentages, and set the color before I render a Named View.
I have successfully used these techniques to render depth-cued elevations in ACAD 06. But in ACAD 07 the Near Distance Plane (as indicated in test renderings with the Near Distance set to between 0 and 1%) will not move past a certain vertical plane toward the Camera. I have experimented with turning on Perspective for the Named View, since the representative Camera Glyph is not shown for a Parallel Projection Named View, and moved the Target Plane at various distances along the Camera axis for effect on my problem.
ACAD 07 documentation states the FRONTZ system variable has functionally changed, but comparing ACAD 06 & 07 Help and the descriptions in SYSVDLG Express command, the change is not apparent. In WCS Plan view, here is the order of the vertical planes for a Named Elevation View: Camera and Front Clip same plane, Target, Near Distance, Far Distance, Back Clip Plane. Of course, the 3DCLIP window only shows the clipping planes, but the locations of the Camera and Target are indicated in the View Manager.
How can I get the Near Distance closer to the Camera for ACAD 07?
