Design Options and 'inserts'

I'm getting the error messsage below when I try to add elements to a design option. I don't use design options much and can't figure out what Revit is having aproblem with.
Can design options not contain groups?

Each time I make a selection Revit gives me a different number of errors. Any ideas/comments

Quick reply to my own question. :Oops:

The culprit was a section of curtain wall that was embeded in a host wall was totally consumed by the curtain wall so Revit couldn't find it.
I was under the assumption that when you did a crossing selection in a wireframe view that all elements would be part of the selection set. :?
