I just upgraded a file to Revit Architecture 2008 and I used my design mass faces to create new walls for marketing drawings. I am trying to add a sweep to the top of the wall (or anywhere on the wall for that matter) and I get the error message shown on the attached photo and I am forced to Delete my walls. Why is this? The error message doesn't even make sense...it's saying that my walls need to be 18' - 0" and they are 18' - 0"?!?! Please help! I don't want to have to keep working in a later version, but if bugs like this keep happening then I will have no choice!

In your wall editor dialog box change the sample height to 17'-6" instead of 20'-0". See if it still gives you errors. My theory on these complex walls is if it works at a height shorter than intended it shouldn't have a problem being taller than that.

It may also be the sweep is looking to host itself to a portion of the wall that isn't really there, based on where the insert location point of the profile is. A vertical offset of the profile by something like -1/8" may also work.

If you post a file with just this wall type in it (and associated pieces), people will have a much better chance of helping you figure out what's really going on.

Doug,

Good request. Attached is a Revit Architecture 2008 file with only the wall type shown that I am trying to edit. Right now, the wall is set with it's base level at 01 Finish Floor and it's top set at 04 Parapet with a 2'-4" top offset. I don't want a top offset...I want it just to be 18' in height total but it won't allow me to do this. Any help that anyone can provide me with would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Kim

Your wall constraints are 2'-6" + 8" + 4'-10" + 8" + 9'-4" = 18'.

If you set the wall to 18' or less, then the brick ebtween the 4'-10" and 8" constraint would have to be deleted. You will need to get rid of one of the splits or change a constraint dimension to have the wall less than18'.

I don't want a wall that is less than 18', though...I want a wall that is 18'. That's why I have those splits in there as is...the entire wall should total 18' as shown but it won't let me change it to that and the error message makes no sense!

Nevermind...I see what you are saying. I just changed my wall height to 18' - 1/64" and it works fine. Ok...I can deal with that. Thanks!

Just delete one of the splits. then it can be exactly 18'
