I'm designing studios with Revit, so I deal with a lot of difficult angles. One of my problems is trying to dimension anything that doesn't lie on the x,y,or z axis. Say a line from 0,1,1 to 3,2,2. I need to communicate to the person exactly what the dimensions should be when his tape hits the framing. I can do this with Sketchup (see jpeg), but not Revit (take a look at A101 in the attached project).

Even in a 3d view, the dimension will snap to an axis. If you check the properties of the line, you'll see that it is actually 9'6" long. But not according to any dimension I try to put on it.

In 3D view, select the plane you wish to dimension. Use you mouse and the TAB key to cycle to your point. Otherwise you'll be select the last plane used.
