View Full Version : Window in 2 walls

I was wondering what the best way to insert a window into 2 walls is. I have a condition (see image) where I basically have a masonry exterior wall which will be mostly left bare, but in some places will be furred out with metal studs and gyp on the inside. in order to keep from breaking the exterior wall into a bunch of pieces, I just put the furring wall type next to the exterior wall. This works great until I get to a window or a door, which, of course, only cut one of the walls. I can edit the profile of the other wall, which is what I may do, but that does not take trim into account...
Any suggestions?

You can attach the two walls with the "attach geometry" fonction.

SWEET! I knew you could join them, but I didn't realize that it would know to cut the windows then. that's awesome :D
Thanks. Great program, great forum!

HI there,
This was added in 6.0 and documented in the "what's new in 6.0" on the website. There are a bunch of other helpfull items in these documents. (both 6 and 6.1) I pasted the link below:

Good Reading

I notice a limitation.
If you delete the standard aperture of your window family and replace it by a void :
it doesn't work anymore.
Some work arround ?
