Count me in. Just registered. Had to pass on Marty's class in lieu of Chris' on Thursday. I'm even looking forward to attending the "Revit for AutoCAD and ADT users" class. Should be some good questions. I want to go just in case there's an ADT heckler there that needs to be gently escorted out.
By the way, what ever happened with the head-to-head that was supposed to take place between Paul Aubin using ADT and Aaron Rumple using Revit at the National AIA Convention in Chicago?
You know that Revit's growing. . . We now have two classes in a single time slot that are competing. Wasn't it last year that there was an open time slot, so we held our own International Revit User's Group Meeting?
I can't wait. This should be a good year. The classes look great and the Camaraderie is always flawless.
Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Last year's mixer was pretty good. It was the first time I'd heard of Revit, and I also met some really cool people there... um, but there was also an open... um refreshment stand, so, sorry if I don't remember exactly who... ;)
The AU events schedule looks so very interesting. It would be a great if overseas users (that is others who are not resided on the North American continent) could purchase subscriptions for live access to the sessions that were of interest to us. Like the Revit B to Z session!! 8)
Similar to off campus or remote student arrangement that most universities have!!

I'd have to concur with ita on this one, with costs hovering around $US1445 ($A2000) for my partner & I not forgetting the $A6000 airfares and being the prime busy period - I'd love to be there but it aint gonna happen - so a live web access would be a joy!!!

Just let me know when you want RSVPs.
I'm currently scheduled to arrive Monday at 5:20pm - probably check into the conference around 6 or 6:30. I'd love to hook up with anyone that's there Monday night.
Looking forward to it.

I'm in! All registered, classes are lined up. Great set of Revit classes this year! They are making us hold out til Friday for the What's New in 7.0 lab! I'm really looking forward to that.
Also can't wait to see "You can't do that in Revit" where James from SOM is gonna show us some Freedom Tower stuff! And of course the B to Z show should be fun, too!

Any idea of the time of the "Revit Mixer" on Monday night?
I don't get into Vegas until 10:15PM. Hope the mixer is still going strong at that early Vegas time.
And remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

It is probably late to be suggesting content, but confidence in the Revit presenters, and their flexability, leads to this wish. There should be at least a few courses that are more in depth for intermediate users--even an intermediate track. As we all know, a user can get to intemediate using Revit pretty quick. Some candidates: Design options, rendering, family strategy and best practices, tips on the non-obvious but powerful features--and for the bold "work-arounds, a philosophy and methodology"
I took a lot of notes last year, and learned a lot. I am looking forward to this year.

So I "leave" for a week to work on management... and we have AU, 7.0, etc... what a week and hundreds of posts!
So I take it that 7.0 is not live yet... but we are expectant...?
I am afraid that I cannot take the time or spend the money for AU this year... although that decision is pending... there are many other opportunities being that I am primarily a contractor, I need to work on my CGB (Certified Graduate Builder) certification through the NAHB... the Remodelor's Show in Chicago, the Builder's Show in Orlando... the options abound!! AU gets a little pricy in comparison. But the rewards are there.
Just my rant of the morning...
blads, it looks like our suggestion has fallen on stoney ears - not a comment, not a murmer, not a response - well one that is relevant anyway. . . bit like the freezing cold forgotten feeling one has at dawn at Emu Flat!!

Well I'm registered and excited to participate in the classes. Also looking forward to meeting many of you and being able to associate a name with a face. It looks like I'll make the tail end of the mixer with my flight arriving at 7:25pm. Look forward to a fun and educational experience.
See ya all there.

Guys, the idea is an excellent one. Maybe there was no response because people outside the north Americas haven't paid too much attention to this thread. The distance learning stuff I did early on with Revit was very helpful and I have followed webcasts from Ken Stowe, it all works well enough.
These days it should be possible to host a well compressed realplayer stream in a relatively small space. Someone recently sent me a 5 minute (non-broadcast quality) video at 320 x 280 pixels, which was good enough to follow. I transferred that to .rm format and it ammounted to 600 KB or so instead of the 30MB AVI file that I was sent.
Thanks Pete, down here at Emu Flats, when the (phone) line gets a bit fuzzy we aske them to pull their can (on the srting) a little tighter so we can understand what they are saying.
Pete could you pull your can a little tighter and say all that again - in plain English please?? Sounds very exciting though!!

Real Player is software that enable you to watch a video over the net without having to pull your string too tight and without having to download the entire file. I was suggesting that the files would be small enough to consider having them hosted by AUGI if live access could not be arranged.
I think the technology involves taping some tracing paper to the open end of your tin can and holding it up to the sun while keeping the string reasonably tight.
Now Pete that sounds just great!! Fantastic in fact!!
How do we get this up and running and will Adesk be OK with the use of their material? How do we go about finding out?
And . . . is it possible to use MS Media Player or Quicktime? - Real Player bugs one with endless comercial deals once you subscribe/use/show any interest in their products.A bit like when you get a dose of the roo lice on Emu Flat. When you catch 'em they take an age to get rid of!!

I'm sure that in the past AU events they were available to view on-line.
I maybe wrong and thinking about another event though
Jim - Any ideas ?

Ian, et all -
I guess I should have told you all that I forwarded your request to the powers that be regarding a distance type connection, but I did not want to get your hopes up. But now that you are feeling neglected, I thought I would. As you may know they have done webinars in the past from AU but they were more along the lines of the what's new line not necessarily the mainstream classes.
I am not making any promises, but let's see what happens.
Jim, thankyou! We could not ask for more than that.
I would be prepared to pay a per session cost as there will be a cost to undertaking such broadcasts. I am sure others who would like to be there would be in agreement with that - perhaps a poll would provide an idea of support if that were required.

I'm all for this ( including pay per view ) if we can get it up. ( Even though I realise it will probably mean getting out of bed at 3 am to catch some sessions. )

It would be very interesting ~ even more interesting trying to figure out what Broadcast Times really would be in GMT Summertime
Can they be recorded & re-issued in the future as well ??

That would be my favoured solution but either way I would like to see some of what goes on, pay per view or not.

Count me in as well, the "plastic" likes to get out and get a hammering from time-to-time...
Er blads . . . not tooooooo much of a hammering though!!!
Peter, has this suggestion gone any further? The AU is rolling up quickly and if something can be done for recording or for live presentations etc the time is nigh!!
This is especially so with Revit 7.0 being released soon and to see some demonstrations from the workshops would be great.
As a moderator, would you know of someone to talk with or is there anything we can do to get this up? Sorry, I let this drop through time shortage but if it could be re-invigorated that would be great!!

Dunno, Ian. The post was a couple of months ago and I haven't seen anything on it subsequently. Try Jim Balding or one of the AUGI management team. They are more likely to be able to help you.
