I have created a topology for 1000 parcels with centroids and want to link an Access file that has a key field for the parcel ID. How can I attach a text ID label to the centroids on the map so that they can be linked to the data table?

Thanks!

Are your Centroids text entities with values that match a field in the access table?
If so, create a link template that points to the correct field in access then generate links on the text.

You will find this process is made much easier
if you have a unique text string, that matches a
unique text value in your database inside each
of those parcels (polygons), or if there is a block
that contains an attribute that matches unique values
in the key field when you attempt to generate your
links based on your link template.

The centroids are a dot on the map layer with no text. I would like to put the key ID on the map parcel, possibility attached to the centroid, so that the parcel can be linked to the Access table key field. How should I enter the data onto the map layer?
Thanks for your help!

Dave,
Delete those centroids, they will be recreated later
if and when you create a topology from that data.
Place that ID number in place of the centroid.
Drag your data source into the map session
then use the generate links function to select the
TEXT id numbers to create the actual database link.

If you have the actual drawing open when you do this
just put the data (ID numbers) on whatever layer you want to.

If you have attached the source file, and then enter the ID numbers
and then generate your links, select everything when you perform the
save-back function.

Another option, use my profile information to tag me in a chat
window and we'll walk through the process together.

Michael,
Thanks for the help! It worked and I am entering the ID's onto the parcels. Over another hurdle.
