Sometimes, dimensions can be a pain. Other than adding reference lines, how do you dimension walls and openings that are angled (see attached)

If you want to dimension along the angled wall you can hover your cursor at one corner and use the tab key until it selects the correct reference point, then do the same at the opposite end. If you set your view to "fine" you can make sure you selected the correct points.

And using SHIFT+TAB can access very often directly to the points (that invert the selection cycle)

So far, so good but it gives me a dimension of 0 along the wall. I must be doing something wrong.

Are you trying to dimension the length of the angled wall?

Yes, it's exactly what I'm trying to do

I assume you are trying to dimension to the core of the wall?

While in the dimension command hover you cursor over the core at a corner and Tab until you see a description in the status bar that says "intersection of two wall layer boundaries". Then repeat at the other end.

Very nice, we are almost there. If you notice on my drawing, it's an exterior brick wall. I was trying to dimension the exterior.
