Glad you got it to work :) Thumbs up! Just noticed though, as you stretch it wider the swing direction lines shrink? I moved the stretch boxes .1 away from the centre to fix it.

Apparently not... the flip still stuffs it up, hang on a tick ill take another look

yeah the only way I've ever been able to get a flip and a stretch to work properly together is to flip the whole block which is how all the standard dynamic blocks are that come with cad.

The reason for not doing that is if you have a chained perameter in the block it will be activated by the flip and if you don't include it with the flip set then it will chain in the oppisite direction when it is activated by the guiding perameter.

I put on the wish list to have chained actions be associated with specific perameters only and they said I just didn't know how to use them properly and cut it from the wish list. Also I was berated for calling it chained actions instead of chained perameters even though AutoCAD calls it chained actions in all the help files and walk throughs. I don't recall seeing anything on chained perameters from autoCAD.
Im glad im not the only one who think you should be able to choise which parameters effect a chained one. I think the chained parameter thing must just be the common term, i think it makes more sense than chain action, as you are appling the chain properties to the parameter not the action, but thats just me. I was going to start a topic on that issue yesterday but got sidetracked

I think the most time effective thing to do is remove the flip and just use the CAD command to mirror the block :| i know it kinda defeats the purpose of dynamic blocks but it would be easier

the action of the manipulated parameter affecting the "chained parameter" IS referred to as the "chained action", or what i actually like to call it because it makes more sense to me, the "chaining action". ~shrug~ that's the methodology that i've been using anyway....

This is a great block I have been working on 3 days now. Watch out for the door flip if you stretch it after the flip you will get crazy results. Any one know how to fix that? for more information on what I did and why see this (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=62065&page=1&pp=10) rambling nonsense. Hope you like ityou know, i've been looking at your block for a while now, and you really aren't doing anything different than what's found in Will's DB's, you're just doing it different. (i still don't get the "dummy" parameters...)

yes they are chained to ALL the perameters that they are included with so if you want it to strech when you stretch something else it works great but if you want it to flip so you can stretch in the other direction it flips AND stretches at the same time and whats worse if you you try to flip it back it only stretches farther because it's chained. The only reliable solution is to make sure the chained perameter is not part of the flip set, do the stretch first, then do the flip. this will give you a desired result however if you try to sretch after that the fliped items will go in the wrong direction. I have also started to experiment using the rotation perameter in place of the flip just set the increment for 180%%D and you can get the look of a flipped item but with out the feedback information.diag. line stretches and flips have been a struggle for as long as i've been doing this... i like your rotation idea tho! it's worth a shot in my book.

It WORKS!!!! IT WORKS!!!!

How about posting the block so we can see what you did ?

Ok here is one, had to dumb it down a bit as it was over the file size limit.what file size limit? i've got some that are over 800kb in here. I usually perform a "Purge > All", and that takes care of a bulk fo the file size....

cool block! i like the rotate option in leiu of the flip for the swing...

oh, and unless it's a brand name of some sort, there's no "h" in "Amish" (sounds like there should be, but isn't. i asked one...)
