I just downloaded the new build of revit 2008. But when I ran the install I was not asked where I wanted the content installed. I did a search and found all of the content burried in the /Documents & settings/Users/AutoDesk/Rac 2008 folder.
Can I just move the content to a differnet location as long as I change to search paths

Usually, yes.Is there a reason why you want to do that? If other users need to access it too, or your company uses roaming profiles, you might want to try moving the content to the right subfolder of 'all users'. If I remember correct there's an option to configure the install, which might offer functionality to, either, specify the content location, or install for all users.
Before you install you need to configure your instillation so that puts your files correctly and as Bram stated yes you can move the folder and just redirect it under settings>options>file locations.
