Has anyone had trouble 2008 crashing? When I try to pick a point to hatch, it takes forever to process the internal points. Also, when I save and close a drawing, it takes a very long time for the drawing to actually close.
I have a computer that's only 2 weeks old. Dual processors, 4mb RAM, 150gb hard drive, so I wouldn't think that the machine should be having any trouble at all running 08.
Has anyone else had these problems, and if so, is there a fix???
Thanks,
Tony

TonyWhile I am not crashing a whole lot, I am experiencing much slower processing of commands and more visual lags of command entry than any version I have previously used. If I open 07, everything works peachy, I open up 08, slowwwwwwww. Of course I don't have a fix other than hopefully there will soon be a service pack available...

Check your tolerance for gaps in your hatch boundary. I had that problem with 08 a lot. As far as slow operation... it is what it is, pray for the point release to come out soon.

Try checking the file paths. I had a problem with my ACAD 08 running really slow. I found that ACAD was looking in the wrong place for my fonts folder. Once I corrected that, everything works fine. Hope this helps.

08 is crashing on me when I try to trim several lines simultaneously, using either a crossing window or a fence, to the same entity. I've submitted the error reports, so we'll see what happens.

I currently have multiple calls with Autodesk Subscription are "scheduled to be fixed in SP1 due out late summer or the fall." One of them, which may or may not be related to what you are experiencing is that often after hatching or dimensioning something that is hatched we will get errors or crash upon saving. The work-around until the SP1 is released is to audit the file and purge all of the blocks prior to saving.
At the command line:
1) AUDIT
2) Y
1) -PU
2) B
3) *
4) N
PS: Hope this helps. Don't shoot the messenger. :-)

I read on the Bug List a reason for the slow saves. 2008's annotation scale feature saves the drawing in a manner that allows you to read the drawing correctly in pre-2008 releases. It creates annonymous blocks on different layers . . .
You can turn this feature off, but by doing so makes it so it does not display correctly in pre-2008 releases.
You can read more about it on Steve Johnson's bug list at Cadalyst.com

That they are. I usually do only 2D work in AutoCAD and save the 3D for Inventor.

Bug Watch (http://gis.cadalyst.com/gis/author/authorDetail.jsp?id=16222), specifically the July 2007 (http://gis.cadalyst.com/gis/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=437010) one. :)
