View Full Version : Orange structural lines showing thru on architectural

Hi all,

There are some orange lines from some structural components showing thru on the architectural model that we cannot do anything about.

Some basic info: -architectural (Revit 9.1) and structural (Revit 4) models are linked.
-orange lines are associated with individual structural components
-does not appear on structural, only on architectural
-associated with various families and member types, pipes, beams, truss members, supports, etc (but not all components have them)

Some things tried already: - turning off things in V&G (analytical lines, etc, even all structural framing!)
- using linework to turn it to invisible lines

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey there,

I know you said you already tried to turn off analytical lines, but I want to make sure....did you turn off analytical lines in the linked file as well? Or maybe check object styles.

Yep. We turned off almost everything in the structrual file link. Funny thing is though, these lines don't match all the properties of the object they are a part of. Some of them are longer than the object, some are outside of the object, but either way are an integral part of them. Can't even cycle through the selection using the TAB, all I get is the one item.

It really sounds like object styles might be at play, but I'm curious, have you checked the Symbolic Representation Settings under Settings>Structural Settings? Not sure why, it would be the last place I would look, but I would check there seeing as how you've looked everywhere else (and all sub-cats, too, right?) and I am not sure how it would affect this, but it doesn't hurt to check.

I'll check those today. One more thing I thought of is that they only show up on section views.

Thanks,

After checking the object styles, I've found it is the Analytical model of different categories. In V&G, I've got all of them turned off, yet they are still visible. I'll check with structural to see if there's something they can do, switch them off or to invisible or something.

Thanks.

OK, think it's solved temporarily. I went into Object Styles and turned the offending categories to white. No Colour still showed grey on the print. Any idea why they would still show when I've turned them off in Visibility and Graphics??

Thanks,
Gord

We've seen this on occasion, but usually in plans related to the columns, not sections. And yes, they have also printed despite being off by default in VG. There were a couple of improvements to the new build version of RS (20070607_1700) that was released that address the analytical model function:

- Beam’s analytical model auto-adjusted to slab doesn’t update when slab is deleted.
- Column’s analytical model auto-adjusted to slab doesn’t update when moved out of tolerance.
I'm not a structural engineer and have barely opened RS to play with it, but I have a hinky feeling this might be related...? However, I've been wrong about these things before. Something to ponder perhaps. I might think about checking the build versions just in case.

Good luck,
LC

I had this issue and it was because the view was set to coarse. Once I set it to medium, the structure appear (and not orange.)
