I have a Detailed Componant, Molding Crown 2, that I need to "explode" so that I can work with it a little. Is this possible? I can't seam to figure out how. Short of going in and modifing the file, is there another way?

A detail component family is no different from other families. So, yes, you'll need to open that family outside Revit, make your changes and reload. Might want to do a saveas first? Is that what you meant?

Thanks Steve, I was hoping it might be simpler than that, but thats no problem. I'll make the change and move on ......

Depending on what you are doing....
If you are going to be editing a detail on the fly quite a bit, draw it in a drafting view, group it. Then place the groups where you want. Then just edit the group of detail items to update everything.
If you need to "convert" a drafting detail to just basic linework, export it to DWG and then import it back in to a single view. The dwg can then be exploded. The original detail componet can be deleted and the new information used in its place.
Of course if it is really a typical detail that you are repeating throughout the project it is best to edit the family and reimport.
