I have a Revit Project in 9.1, am interested in some of the new features in 2008. What has been people's experience upgrading between the two mid project. Is this a bad idea?

Also where can I find a comprehensive list of the new features in 2008?

I haven't had any problems, really. I upgraded one project but it was fairly early in SD's when I did.

We upgraded the entire office. Even projects in late CDs get updated, but I let them finish out an interim deadline before I do. So, for example, on the 9.1 to 2008 upgrade, about 15 projects just rolled over on a Monday, while three projects with deadlines like 100% DD, 90% CD, etc. got a one week reprieve. Had their interim deadline been two weeks away rather than one, we would have upgraded them too. This is pretty standard for all projects and all Revit upgrades, and has not caused much grief so far. We often do a week or two of "testing" with a single team on the new version, but once the new version is validated we just roll the office over and move on. The whole process is so much less painful than an AutoCAD upgrade, which usually included many hours fixing broken cusomization, many more training people, etc. Revit just seems to work, and you start using new features as you need them. Much easier!

Best,
Gordon

How about (on large projects) converting separate plan views to dependant views? I.e., copy/pasting details onto the parent/dependant views.

Seems like it would work except for linework overrides. I think it's a good idea, too. Anyone done it yet?

I was just on a project heading toward deadline and I wish we'd taken the time to do such a conversion. There was a big issue with gridlines' visibility and the work was multiplied by the number of separate views for each level.
